Fabrication and tensile properties of ABS/cellulose nanocrystal nanocomposite filaments for 3D printing

Composite filaments based on acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) consisting of cellulose nanocrystal (CNC) were prepared by melt intercalation using a single screw extruder. The effect CNC loading levels (0-4 wt%) the tensile properties and water absorption behavior was investigated in this work. Results indicated that composite exhibited rougher surfaces non-uniform diameters than neat ABS filaments. strength increased slightly incorporation till 2 wt%, with optimal content, obtained at wt% an increase 9 %. modulus significantly 54% presence 1 but then decreased drastically 4 CNC. introduction into highest absorbed content shown
